Tops are unfinished quilts. They consist of the top part of the quilt. They
have never been backed, filled, or quilted. People today buy them to either
finish, use as a tablecloth, a throw, or various other uses. They cost less
than completed quilts.

Quilt" Quilt Top, circa 1880. Sewn to a foundation. There are water
stains on the back which you will not see when you complete this quilt. There
is also one small stain on the front as shown. 66"x80".
